Defying Distance

Everyday I wait for you is like a knife, stabbing at my heart

The sharpness of the point piercing at my flesh

Making the blood that flows within me poisonous

Carrying the ache from limb to limb

Running like a movie, scenes play in my head

When our eyes first met in that longing gaze

As if we were long lost friends embracing one another

Never wanting to let go

From the time when we first spoke

A simple exchange of hello and goodbyes

Your voice so lulling and calming

Made me even more enthralled in your beauty

Then there was that one special moment

Making me feel as if I was on Cloud 9, floating with angels

Your hands in mine, swaying to the sound

Warmth filling my whole body

A magnetic pulse jolted me, shocking my heart

Like I was being awoken from a dream

Sparks seemed to be flying everywhere

With my eyes closed, I swore I was in a dream

But when I awoke, I came to reality

You standing in front of me, that enchanting grin

It wasn’t a dream, you were really mine

Though only lasting for a second it was all I needed

From that moment on I couldn’t let go

You had to be mine, you became my obsession

I was enthralled in your presence, but presence became the issue

Distance was the barrier to our hearts

Somedays, if I listen carefully

Your voice speaks to me gently

Telling me to relax and breathe

Reassuring me that space means nothing

Now everyday I wait for you is like a knife, stabbing at my heart

Willing, striving to endure the pain

But everyday I wait, my love for you grows stronger
Everyday I wait, is well worth the pain
