A Dedication for Preparing me for this Nation

Born with less, but she kept us fed.

She told me knowledge is power,

Went to college, so this world doesn't devour.

You mean the world to me, that's a fact,

A better tomorrow for us is what I ask.

Working too much I can see the stress,

For us, it's always a test.

Promises can't always be delivered,

Hoping I don't miss life, it makes me shiver.

In essence,

I feel tense in your presence.

I just want to make you proud,

Trials and tribulations surround like a shroud.

"For every dark night, there's a brighter day",

You tell me it's all going to be okay.

So I go through the motions, devoted,

Hoping I don't plunge deep in the ocean.

You give me the hope I need,

I'm going to be all that I can be.

Thank you for putting up with me, Lori.
