Decision Made

I remember applying to my first college

And questioning if I had done good enough the last three years

I remember hitting submit

And anxiously waiting for a response

I remember looking through my email and seeing “Decision Made”

And freaking out all three minutes it took to login

I remember seeing “Accepted”

And feeling as if a load was taken off my shoulders

I remember rushing to fill out many more applications

And knowing no matter what I had gotten in

I remember getting my first deferral

And feeling like the world had just ended

I remember ripping up the paper feeling like it was worse than a rejection

And crying like I did at the end of Marley and Me

I remember that talk I had with myself

And knowing a deferral meant I still had a chance

I remember that no matter where I go, I’m going to do great.
