The Debts of the Free

America, America, why do you impose on us so heavily?

If you're taking 15% of my hard earned money,

why do you blow it on non-necessities?

And that's without the taxes on food and gas,

which have both spiked on their own,

Yet you sit on our cash and watch as we burn without lifting a finger to help us.

How are you so unskilled financially

that you take our wages and still burn through your entire debt limit?

Our "living wage" isn't livable, even without your theft of it.

We're just trying to pay the bills while you keep taking what you never earned.

Maybe let the people have a chance at making changes,

instead of playing your popularity contest for the most power.

Why should you be left unaccountable, irresponsible, and in charge

while the workers of this nation fight to survive

the economy you've in large part created?

When do we get a say in where our tax dollars go?

Or are you holding out to keep the power as long as possible,

and don't care who suffers in the process?

House, Senate, and Mr. President himself,

why do you spend so frivolously to the point of breaking the bank,

and when will you learn financial responsibility?

Or will you never learn?
