Debit Card

One day past sixteen,

walking through a clean and emotionless hall,

to be handed a tiny card,

that put a large weight on my shoulders.

No more free hand outs.

No more excuses.

I was now aware of that green demon

all adults face.

I took the responsibility

and I was afraid.
