Dear Multiple Sclerosis

Dear Multiple Sclerosis,

Why?

Why do you leave me feeling so bad?

Why do you insist on taking all my energy?

Why must I plan my day around you?

Why must you hide in my head?

Why must you demand so many medications just to silence you?

Why do you leave my legs so weak and trembling?

Why must you make me fall with no warning?

Why must you attack my mother too?

Why do you try to take my dreams away?

Will you attack my little sisters?

Will you ever give me a break?

Why did you make it so hard to participate in events that I love?

Why do you leave me drawing a blank looking for the words to say?

Why .... I forgot that question.

Will I continue to forget?

Will I get worse?

Will you find it in the stars to allow me to improve?

Why ME?

Painfully Yours,

Shayla Castillo
