Dear Dad

You’re leaving.

You have no regret for the havoc you wreak.

My mind is heaving.

Why dad, are you making me weak?

You’re gone.

You continue on as if nothing has changed.

My line is drawn.

Why dad, are you so estranged?

You’re satisfied.

You moved away and settled with a new wife.

I lost my stride.

Why dad, can’t I be in your life?

You’re dying.

You cut the strings that knotted us together.

I’m not crying.

Why dad, did you drift like a feather?

You’re dead.

You are permanently removed from the depths of my brain.

My thoughts have fled.

Why dad, did you cause me so much pain?
