Everyday we look in the mirror

The mirror’s our friend,

arch enemy,

biggest supporter

one to make you cry, sigh, rely on a reflection...

The mirror’s our reflection

Most times we look in the mirror more than we reflect

Reflection brings out the real you

When you reflect you understand what you see in the mirror

That a piece of glass could say so much

hint at so much

remind of so much

change so much

do so much

 

The Day I looked in the mirror

I for once didnt just see strands of frizzy unruly hair stacked on top of each other

I didnt see an outfit that wasnt good enough, cool enough, hip enough

I didnt see the pimple on the top of my left eyebrow

Or the smudged makeup under my right eye

 

I saw sad eyes

I saw mistakes

I saw change waiting to happen but needed to be acted upon

I saw a future

 

The Day I looked in the mirror was the day I didnt just see my
