Darkest Days

Flashing back
To the times they took her away
On a gurney stark white
In the cold December night

Her mixing pills and booze
Made me realize--we choose
Our lives and our own reality

Looking back, a small child
Scared by this woman
With eyes so far gone and wild
Fear found me

Bad memories always hold something bright
We make our choices--choose wisely
To avoid that cold December night
