The Dark War

Here they come I feel them, they know what must be done
Their tattered black wings are blocking out my sun
They know what I am facing, what I have to do
They use it to their advantage, to beat me black and blue
They're getting so much closer, I can here them now
Their shrieking evil laughter, their mockery cruel and foul
They're coming t attack me, to whisper their dark lies
To rest upon my back and to cover up my eyes
So I no longer can see God in His love and all His grace
But instead to see my faults and all my past mistakes
Now they have arrived, I've let them get too close
They seem to swallow up all my love, joy, and hope
I can almost feel the piercing of their swords
As the crush the name of Jesus and praise their evil lord
I can smell the sulfurous stench of their dark breath
As I lay there getting beaten, nearly seeing death
In all of this confusion, in this evil dark despair
I hear another sound fluttering in the air
It awakens me from darkness, a deep and evil sleep
To a sweet remembrance of MY great and mighty King
I call out to Jesus to save me from this death
To come to my rescue, to give me peace and rest
Then the sound that woke me was louder than before
It came from every direction, the deafening sound of war
They came falling from Heaven screaming their battle cry
Like giant balls of fire lighting up the sky
They came in to surround me, to shield me from the dark
As they did I felt peace and joy restored into my heart
The demons fought them well, they put up a good fight
But they were just no match for this bright and holy might
My warriors fought them hard, with sureness in their swings
They killed these ugly creatures, ripped apart these evil things
In the Name of Jesus, they swung their mighty swords
As the demons ran screaming "Today I've failed my lord!"
My warriors beat them all, unforgiveness, hate, lust
Bitterness, and despair are all reduced to dust
When this was all over, my warriors turned to say
"My King and His Princess have Victory this day!"
