Dark Mother

Location

"The brightest light casts

The darkest shadow."

Or so he told me -

As if I have never

Sat before myrrh,

Looking deep inside

And reaching blindly

Through misty shadows.

I am spending winter

Meditating at midnight,

And confronting the

Dark Mother whose

Pale hand gets me

Through the darkest times.

She dances in shadows;

I simply stand, afraid

To walk amongst wolves

Or hear the raven's caw.

I am a little girl trapped

Inside a woman's body,

And she knows. She

Tells me to walk in

Moonlight, or I will

Never know my shadow,

But spend forever

Running towards a burning sun.
