Dandy Lion

I was born into life under the corner of Tenth and Walnut street
Few of my people made it through the sliver of green hope
Knowing I was hated by the worlds people, always under their feet
I had to emerge from this thick abyss of cement, The Continental Slope

Sunlight and water is all I need to grow
Ever so unwanted, hacked away with chemicals from gardens, ripped from the ground
Though nothing shall stop me from living, the cement is thin I'll be out to show
I will be the first one this spring, the first to be found

Unloved and in the way
Not a worry, I am independent. Dandy as a lion, busy as a bee
Finally out from under the man made pressure to see the light of day
I beat the odds, I am now here for the world to see
