Dance With Me
Chandelier lights and fireflies,
What a strange sight!
The ball is ready, the stage is set,
But you have a date I bet.
How odd the fancy dresses!
Each gent a girl impresses,
Steps too foreign for me to take to the floor,
I wish not to be here anymore!
There, there you are and there you go,
Dancing with all the grace in the world,
But who is that with you? Who is that girl?
Your eyes leave her.
They turn to me.
My heart stops
For only a beat,
I stare down,
At my unmoving feet,
One heartbeat,
Then another,
There's your hand on mine,
Your lips move
But I don't hear the words,
I know the question asked, however absurd,
Dance with me?
