Curiousity

I heard a song not known but years before

That delicately threaded through my ears

It floated gently from the darkened door

And soon nostalgia nudged my into tears

I, step by step, had stumbled to the stoop

Since no one could've known that song but I

This tune had really thrown me for a loop

For t'was my long-passed mother's lullaby

With hand on knob I wondered what I'd see

My visions started soft but then grew dark

For what if, waiting in that room for me

Was poor ol' mummy's spirit, standing stark

Intending to find out why she was dead?

I couldn't stand the thought and so I fled.
