Curiosity Killed The Cat

The room dark except for the TV

Which crackled with static & snow

The blue flowery wallpaper peeled

Showing walls yellow with age

The grey carpet stained brown in places

A sheet of dust covered the broken chair

The lamp toppled & broken in the middle of the room

A figure in the corner trembled & rocked back & forth

Back & forth

Waiting for you to get closer

Waiting for your curiosity to take over

Going closer, the figure mumbles incoherently.

Putting your hand on their shoulder

The figure turns around

Their face warped

Their smile twisted and dark

You try to back away

The figure grasps your arm

Tighter & tighter

Not letting go

Everything starts to go black

And you wonder why curiosity killed the cat?
