Crying Hope

My tears run dry

As I look over the valley of hope

All I see is Death & Misery

With bullets flying by

The sound of unheard cries

The injustice in a justified nation

Mother's are crying because their sons and daughters are dying

The sky is like a barrier to be never broken

When I turn on the TV

All I see is another life being taken away

But how is that?

We live in the 21st Century

In a land full of diversity

And people are still hating on us?

And see us as a threat?

They know our true potential

The awakening of the conscious  black folk

But still the shackles are tight

Not on our wrist but in our minds

And with us being slaves of the mind, we blindly look upon what we could become

Not " thugs " or " gangsters " but queens and kinds of a forgotten land

Our melanin glows like a ring of fire

And no matter how many bullets kill us

Our faith will never die

And will always survive us

Like a bird flying high up in beautiful pink sky
