The Crossroads

(poems go here) Her true friends thought she was with them
Her other friends were assured she was theirs
She stood at a fork in the road
Feeling her heart start to tear.

She flitted to one side
Then back to the other
Staring down both paths
Going from one to another.

Looking from good to clearly wrong
The good looked full of promise
Hope and much faith
Like the buds of spring shooting from the ground

The path full of wrong looked much fun
With risk and a bit of danger
She watched in intently
The thrill of risk drawing her forward

Her true friends called her name
Her friends full of wrong though staked a claim
She kept on her path forward
Fun and thrill her only aim

She glanced back to see to shadows
The dark closing in
Slowly she walked now
Caution setting in

Pain and panic seeking a way into her
Wrapping around her
Ensuring no way back
A dark forrest of no light
A bottomless well
An endless fall into despair
An ocean of tears consuming all else.

One decision
One choice
All the good erased
One decision
A crossroads
