Corruption

Here

That policeman walking down the street

Is a friend.

He will come when called.

He is a man of the law.

But there

That grungy policeman

Huddled in a dirty

Corner of the market

Might have a suspicious

Wad of cash

In his pocket.

He, too, is supposed to be a man of the law.

But what happens

When a little girl

Is snatched off the street?

He might be the one to bring her home.

Or he might do

Everything in his power

To keep that little girl

Hidden away,

Because the man that took that little girl

Might also be the man

Who stuffed that

Sweaty wad of cash

Into the policeman's pocket.

Corruption

Corruption.

Drain this poison

From the men and women

Who call themselves

Enforcer's of the law.
