Confused? Really?

Matthew 23:25           New English Translation

25 “Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

Are you confused? Really?

Lover’s quarrel, that’s a firstWhere did that come to originate?

Possibly me, or is it you, who defined something as wrong?

We will work it out, you’ll see, there is always tomorrow

And it is a fact indeed that we all seem to belong

Author of Love, foundational, He resides somewhere

Smilingly presenting Grace in showers from above

It rains on everyone you know, the just and the unjust

For that’s what Grace is all about, a never-ending love

Open your mouth and drink the dropsLet it cool your face

Don’t run for an umbrella as it splashes down on you

Please take it in its fullness and share it with the human race

It is free to offer as it channels right through you

A never-ending stream; why do we try to dam it up?

Why do we want to keep it for ourselves? What belongs to all of us

Just the case of our “old” nature that we try to polish every day?

To make it appear, what it isn’t, dress in excess plush.

A never-ending struggle it is, what is supposed to be

But most of us don’t struggle. We compromise it away

The values first bestowed on us like “love one another.

Or “love your neighbor as yourself” every day.

A 1500 hundred dollar suit and an eight thousand dollar watch

I live in a palace, but believe me, I am meek and humble

Possessions don’t mean a thing to me, but I have a personal jet

I need it for my ministry, and you don’t think I’m here to fumble?
