Conflict from Behind My Mask

Who are you?

Who am I?

Who do you WANT to be?

Who WILL you be?

Until I know there will always be that mask,

For my Protection, from

Judging eyes and the unknown,

I don’t know how this mask got here,

It makes it hard to see all the beautiful things,

Like the lightning during a thunderstorm,

Or the moment right before an ocean wave breaks,

Maybe the mask is there for someone to save me from,

What is that I see from behind my mask?

A girl,

Alone,

Crying,

Where is her mask?

I should save her,

But I’m too busy holding my mask in place,

 To save myself.
