Comrade's Confession

I fly on borrowed wings

I thought you ought to know

But you left me to muddle through

A change that came too slow

I know that I have wronged you

I know that I have lied

But if you must condemn me

Please know I always tried

You were my first real passion

A bond forged in the heat

A heat of desperation

A bond that’s bittersweet

So now I ask a favor,

Please, just answer true.

If I said I loved you,

Would you say I love you too?
