Complexions

Mon, 11/19/2012 - 16:41 -- Aaleiah

Don't let your complexion
Bring you disgrace
Don't be ashamed
By the color of your face
Don't get lost within your race
Or feel as though
You're second place
No longer discouraged
There's no more pain
No longer insecure
There's no more shame
Know that your beautiful
Feel it in you heart
Don't let social standards
Tear you apart
I used to be afraid
To be myself
Dishonor and displeasure
Was all i felt
But i realized
Beauty isn't just the color of your skin
It's your compassion
Your spirit
The being within
