Colors

Psalm 126:5 New English Translation (NET Bible)

Those who shed tears as they plant
will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.

Red and green this season’s colors … but give me blue at any time

Sadness colors many hearts … as memories bounce to the surface

Everywhere are tears of sorrow … strung together as in rhyme

To become sullen parts of lives … seemingly lived without purpose

Lights flicker everywhere … to announce seasons of joy

Casting many shadows … on hearts that stay behind

Some turn to prayer … and some to useless toys

All to escape from tomorrow … afraid of what they might find

Songs fill the air … familiar in memory

Pictures of childhood … magnify their presence

Wishing to be there … in long lost harmony

When you felt so good … in freedom’s simple essence
