Color Frequency

The world is full of a wide spectrum of color frequencies

I am the yellow sun, the blue sky, the green grass,

the orange to yo kool-aid, and the gold beads from Mardi Gras.

And my vibe is as strong as the tides of the Indonesian seas

But to others I am the black in the crow’s wings,

the red violence in the streets, the grotesque pink-brown gum under someone’s shoe.

To others I am just another black kid with no dreams no aspirations or rational point of view

Just another black kid who obsesses over Chevy Monte Carlo’s, dime bags, and football rings

I just wanna turn my frequency up, let me be the vibrant hues that make you grab a pair of shades

I don’t wanna worry about what others think of me. They don’t know me anyway, they just see me.

When people see me as me and not as a criminal my joy profusely juts out like a cascade

My yearning for unity stretches far and wide like a Florida palm tree

The media divides us, shows us what they want us to see. When in reality love is what should be displayed.

More life, more love, more peace of mind for your sanity and all these things in life . . . are free
