collapse and recovery

Location

i think my name is safest

let’s start at the home i made

in your ribcage, clawing on the lead pipes

of your bones.

the summer searched for something i loved

and something i lost (or perhaps i missed)

your crooked coffee stain smile still illuminates

those lazy days spent by the river

dreaming of the

past

present

and future.

your words tumbled out into milky cascades

foreshadowing the collapse of the atmosphere.

you scooped me up into the safety net of the summer, making me realize

that the world is a beautiful place.

in your mouth
