Cold is my world

COLD is the thin sheet
With which I warm our small, frail bodies
While I hug my little sister with a tight, reassuring grip, we watch
He forgot to hug and kiss us how too
Today, yesterday… And the day before
I observe his heavy footsteps
And his angry face
Wishing that he would walk over
When can we go out and play?
I yearn to hear the rustling of the leaves
To touch the peeling bark
And play with my new neighbors
My father is coming in- hooray!
Sitting, hunched over
My head is being shaved!
Is it something I did?
