Close to hopeless

Jeremiah 29:11 New English Translation (NET Bible)

11 For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord.

‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you.

I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.

Close to hopeless

A tear in the eye of sorrow

Dreams depleted long ago

Uncertainty now leads the way

In a life build on confusion

No more strength to borrow

It was drained as we know

There is now a price to pay

In a way drowned in depletion

Where did it all go wrong?

Who planned this life for me?

Did I have a hand in it?

Was it just an accident?

How now to go on?

If all that I now see

Is darkness leading to a pit?

Where all seems out of hand

Hopeless seems the struggle

I’m close to down and out

I don’t see any help near

As my confession is growing

Too late now to juggle

Or walk now on the clouds

“My” faith seems disappeared

As love, Himself seems glowing
