Clean

Heb. 10:22 “Let us draw near with a true heart

in full assurance of faith with our heart sprinkled clean

from an evil conscience and our body washed with pure water”.

My heart sprinkled clean

is that my true longing?

Of my desires I mean

which are also encircling self.

My flesh that keeps the fire

always fed and burning

through self justification

and ego, pride through sweat.

“A true heart” ... what a call?

No guile be found in that one.

I am so glad it did not say “good”

for that would blow me away.

“Just as I am without one plea”

now has a sudden meaning

it brings “I am”, that is in Christ,

assurance to the Eternal day.
