Clashes 2

Clashes 2

Clashes of opinion ... between soul and intuition

who will be victorious ... who will rule my life?

The outer or the inner man ... the flesh or the Spirit

carnality or Godliness ... to be at peace or strife?

(Contention for quality of things)

It started so long ago ... when battle lines were drawn

First between the “oldest” foes ... the Spirit and the flesh

Obedience and desire ... were always at stake

I guess we realize who won ... for far too short is our best

(Contention about the source of things)

Now battle rages day and night ... between Spirit and the soul

The first engagement surely ... is with all issues of sin

Between natural good and God’s call ... for all things to be true

and in quality of expression ... hardly understood

Fellowship with God ... in the deepest part of our being

Deeper than our thoughts ... and far beyond our feelings

Our will left behind ... is where fellowship we’re seeing

uninterrupted and constantly ... quiet and serenely

Is it therefore possible ... that this fellowship is there

and that I am not aware of it ... because of cares of the world?

Is this the “me”, deep in myself ... not disturbed in redemption

as I am placed in Christ Himself ... and not part of this world?

John 4:24

24 God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

To communicate with God ... I need to be in His Nature

They that worship Him ... must do it “in Spirit and Truth”

My flesh is not part of it ... and that is so confusing

for it believes to be all of me ... but that cannot be true

Maybe my flesh is someone else ... it has nothing at all in common

with “my” Spirit revived in Christ ... who the flesh tries to suppress

Look around in this world ... where death and lies are reigning

and where the flesh’s best ... is polluted and a mess

1 Corinthians 2:9

But just as it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love Him.”

“No eye has seen, nor ear has heard ... nor heart of man conceived

what God has prepared for those ... who love Him to the end”

So the flesh is blind and dead indeed ... it can’t comprehend the Spirit

Who moves far beyond creation’s ... temporal’s limited trend
