Clashes
1 Thessalonians 1:5 " in that our gospel did not come to you merely in words,
but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction …"
Clashes
Clashes of opinion between soul and intuition
who will be victorious ... who will rule my life?
The outer or the inner man ... the flesh or the Spirit
carnality or Godliness ... to be at peace or strife?
(contention for quality of things)
It started so long ago when battle lines were drawn.
First between the “oldest” foes ... the Spirit and the flesh
Obedience and desire always were at stake.
I guess we realize who won ... for far short falls our best.
(contention about the source of things)
Now battle rages day and night between Spirit and the soul.
The first engagement surely is with all of sin’s issues.
Between natural good and God’s call for all things to be true
in quality of expression and payment of the dues.
Fellowship with God in the deepest part of our being
deeper than our thoughts and far beyond our feelings.
Our will left behind is where fellowship we’re seeing
uninterrupted and constantly ... quiet and serenely.
Is it therefore possible that this fellowship is there
and that I am not aware of it because of cares of the world.
Is this the “me” deep in self ... not disturbed in redemption
for I am placed in Christ Himself and not part of this world?
To communicate with God I need to be in His nature.
For “they that worship Him must do it in Spirit and in Truth”
My flesh is not part of it and that is so confusing
for it believes to be all of me but that really can’t be true.
Maybe my flesh is someone else ... it has nothing at all in common
with my Spirit revived in Christ who the flesh tries to suppress.
Look around in this world where death and lies are reigning
and where the flesh at best is polluted and a mess.
1st Cor. 2:9
“No eye has seen, nor ear has heard nor heart of man conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love Him to the end”
So the flesh is blind and dead indeed and will never comprehend
the Spirit, Who moves far beyond creation’s temporal trend.
