(poems go here) Cut anyone on this earth, they’ll bleed the same color
But white men were still superior to a brother?
For many years society disrespected my people
Some took a stand and fought so we could be equal
Many people were instrumental in the fight for our cause
To abolish all the unfair segregation laws
Perseverance was key; we had to try our hardest
With the KKK trying to hinder our progress
Martin Luther King fought hard for his people to have rights
So hard it even cost the man his life
And Rosa taking a stand by sitting in the front
So you and I can sit wherever we want
Gradually and gradually blacks became stronger
We wouldn’t experience the pain and ridicule for much longer
We kept pushing forward, no turning back
And the Supreme Court passed the Civil Rights Act
Blacks gained opportunities which was pretty great
Now we have a black president running the united states
With all of these leaders’ struggles I think it’s safe to say
We wouldn’t be here if they didn’t pave the way
