Child's Burden (3/3/13)

Child’s Burden (3/3/13)

Shit needa end

Before you’re visiting your mom in the hospital

And I’m visiting mine in the pen.

You found out your father was a cheater

Now add to that list, wife beater?

You told me your parents tryna have a divorce

Now you and your sister’s lives been thrown off course

He tried to put his hands on you

Like he did to your mother

Waitin’ for him to apologize?

Don’t even bother

He’d prolly swing at your sister too

In my house, my mom was the fighter

Beatin’ on my stepdad would excite her

He’s put her through hell

He was never there to catch her when she fell

Ignoring her, constantly dissing her

Barely even kissing her

He’s just a man that lives here

He ain’t worth the money he gives here

Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn

You can look into a woman’s eyes and tell when a killer is born

And in a few months, his family’s gonna have to mourn

While he gets acquainted with the ground, six feet

And I lose my mom to the prison system, defeat

Adults with the name calling, elementary

Mom’s sanity is falling, penitentiary

Mommy and Daddy keep fighting

The fuck we suppose to do?

Sure they get hit with the fists

But shit, we hurtin’ too!

It’s a child’s burden to hold the weight of your parents’ shit

It’s a child’s burden to calm the flames that were lit

Your mom was choked

My mom was provoked

Girl, your dad tryna prove he got balls

My stepdad was supposed to leave 15 years ago, he continues to stall

Shit needa end

Before you’re visiting your mom in the hospital

And I’m visiting mine in the pen.
