The change within

Romans 8:12-13         New English Translation

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh,

to live according to the flesh 13 (for if you live according to the flesh,

you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

The change within

By the provision of God’s Spirit, we receive competence

To command the outer-frame without inner-influence

No more debtors to the flesh and its compromised desires

I can now restrict thus its influence through perseverance

Legitimate requirements that the body inherently has

Clothing, food, and rest somehow are the simple few

The disciples slept well when with Christ in the Garden

Shows some of the tendencies that The Lord pre-knew

The Lord showed endurance against hunger, sleep, and fear

Victory over the legitimate marked His Path in passion

The Love of His Father and Christ’s willingness to obey

Sets an example for the Christian life in a predictable fashion

The power to refuse in what our body beyond our need desires

Rests upon the will and the willingness for us to do what’s right

Don’t allow the requisites to penetrate the purpose of our longings

And so overcome our calling and the following of Jesus Christ
