“You are awesome.”

I’ve said it—again and again and again—but do you really know?

I watch you breathe; I watch you struggle to breath.

There are bricks on your chest—but you are awesome.

You got the news before you could even speak.

Cystic fibrosis—sixty five roses—sixty five years is a long shot.

Yet you fight; and you are awesome.

14day hospital stays every year.

3hours of breathing treatments and over 14 pills every day.

You are awesome—

            You are strong

            You are immovable

            You are a fighter

I fell in love with that strength,

that immovability,

that fight.

            Breath real deep, Shawnie.

You are awesome.
