Caught between a rook and a hard place.

The King's got me in check.
The Queen's stranglin' my neck.
We're falling apart but we're falling together.
The King's got me in check.
You think that you have all your pawns,
Then come back and they're gone.
You can't befriend people that stay when you're not.
The King's got me in check.
You ride through the night with the knight.
Violently, Silently, fight.
You can't expect people to hear when you're right.
The King's got me in check.
They can't possibly know how it feels,
When you're burried way up to your heels,
Ripping the letters and breaking the seals.
The King's got us in check.
I'm dying and maybe it's fate,
And maybe I worried too late,
The Devil knew I'd fail, so he threw out the bate.
He's got me in check, check, Check-Mate.

I really enjoyed your piece, I've never seen someone write a poem about a chess match, and it was actually so very interesting. After watching a few, some of them so silent, and competitive, I could not understand it. But reading your piece had made me see it in a different light. Your imagery and choice of words were excellent- thank you for sharing!
