Caught
A circle of unfamiliar colors filled the air as I walked, astounded.
A deeper, winding street caught my attention,
A child, I walked forward and my imagination knew so much more than my eyes.
A kind hearted man tipped his hat, and a witch waved her wand.
A beautiful sky held my pleasure for so long I tripped before I realized I had walked at all.
A small noise from my lips departed, the obligatory “Forgive me, sir, I tripped.”
And a laugh I’d never heard before, stunned and foreign “You spoke, my dear?”
As I opened my eyes to look up at him, I realized
A hospital bed lay beneath me, A coarse sheet covered me, cold.
And I realized I was more lost in my reality than my imagination.
A memory of a small child weaving through a bright and open city, such pictures flew!
A cry choked in my throat, I was more lost now than before.
