Cases

2 Corinthians 7:1

Self-Purification

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.

My spirit is in lower-case and for sure it belongs there.

For Spirit in the Upper-case seems seldom observed by me.

My lower case reflects … my position everywhere

and lower is not humility for then the Upper would be seen.

I do not really realize the effect … of sin’s imposition

on the spirit that is in me and is really the “who” I am.

My mind ignores my spirit and acts if it is non-existing

and that is really how it is … formed to my own shame.

If my soul can dominate and hide the “who” I am

Well! Then the real “me” … is a second personality.

I am split in thought and deed … never to be “one” man

but two in one, where one is hidden… a split fatality.

If I am at peace with this, then my spirit gives consensus.

body, soul, and spirit putting “holiness” to shame.

When my spirit hardens by “self” and in my pretenses

then the “both” become as one … in an everlasting game.

The fruit of my spirit shows the condition of the real me.

far opposite from the fruit … the Holy Spirit gives.

Anger and discontentment propelled by the selfish me and

will flourish like a poison … almost beyond “forgive”.

2 Corinthians 7:1

The Corinthians’ Repentance

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Now when my spirit is redeemed … remember the lower case?

It is then woven into one … with the Spirit in the Upper case.

Lifted up I’ll rise above … the soul into another phase

to notice the ingredients and the goals in Life’s true race.

Despite myself and who I was … God supplies the hunger

for the one, I need to be … to the Glory of my Savior.

His Righteousness and Image supplies my constant hunger

for I want to be like Him … as God underlines this endeavor.

Obedience is the key to the serving of the Master.

“Follow” is the call … that sets me fully free.

To do what is right … in appetite for faster

deliverance from the “me” … that I seem to want to be.
