Carpe Diem - Sonnet

Complete and utter silent darkness here,
The vestiges of life still lingering.
Eternity had never seemed so near,
But death's deception blinded us to things.

I wonder what death has in store for me.
Perhaps a simple fall 'nto ash and dust.
Perhaps I'll go with no calamity,
And like forgotten gears, descend to rust.

Though death may seem the final end of days,
Our nonchalance diminishes it so.
The cold hard fat that ev'ryone delays,
That death won't fade, 'twill only ever grow.

In living now, we'll laugh and lie and fight
And learn; stride forth when called into the light.
