Carousel

How she loathes that fanfare
announcing her hopeless life always veiled.
She hates the rice in her hair,
but deaf ears cannot hear her heart that wails.

What happened to mutuality?
Happiness for eternity?

She early on succumbs
to lonely emptiness that is a lie.
She forces herself numb.
Blind eyes cannot find the love for which she'd die.

Reassurance isn't dizzying.
Is constancy really so boring?

Pray tell,
who'd want to ride this carousel?
I do.

Her great tragedy:
denying the joy she had, she got burned.
And her legacy
to us is nothing more than a lesson learned.

Pray tell,
who'd want to ride this carousel?
I do.
Oh, please say that you do too.

Please always take care of my heart.
Keep it safe til death do us part.
