Candy

A touch & taste of your lips,

That is, only as sweet as candy.

I thought I had you wrapped,

Around my fingers, like twizzlers.

But you on all actuality had me melting in your hands like chocolate,

Like a child who left chocolate in the car on a hot summer day.

You have been gnawing on my conscious lately,

Like a child chewing a jaw breaker for the first time.

Sometimes I just stay with you for your body as flawless,

As a perfectly peeled Resses butter cup.

Though other times I forget,

I forget about your perfection,

I just drop the idea like a bag of skittles.

Nevertheless when I kiss your lips as soft as cotton candy,

I remember why I’m with you,

A memory so vivid it is like my first piece of candy I have consumed.

You are the first and only piece of candy I want in my heart.
