Calm smiles

I feel calm.

I’m alone with no one to hear.

The world is falling apart around me.

So I smile.

I smile as the wind rips apart everything in sight.

I smile as the ocean drowns the land.

I smile as mountains fall.

I smile as everything melts and freezes over.

I smile as the oxygen begins to deplete.

I smile as the world falls apart.

I smile as my skin cracks open.

I smile as my throat is constricting itself.

I smile as my body goes numb.

I smile as my vision goes black.

I smile because I don’t know what else to do.

I don’t know how to escape.

I feel every fiber of my being telling me to run.

But I can’t.

My feet are glued to the floor.

And I close my eyes.

I imagine a world that’s better.

A world where I can be on my own.

I’m alone with no one to hear.

I feel calm.

And the world is ending again.
