i loved you,

thinking that was enough.
it's hard to imagine
arming the person
who'd strike you down.

honestly—

i've learned that honesty
is a double edged sword;
in handing over power
you did your worst.

what can i say?

when you say it was my mistake
for being too trusting
and i've become an example
that mirrors the norm.

loyal to a fault.

lost between your linen storms,
forged by forced carnal warmth
amidst the veil of lust
disguised as love.

only then you wanted me.

i'm a record broken
by repeated deceit
and the truth is i was played
because you never loved me.
