Consist of head ,thorax and abdomen
Having two pairs of functional wings
There are common in the tropics
They always visit flowers in the gardens
Also visit fruiting trees especially on the dry season
Butterflies are diurnal insects
Feed mainly on necter produced by flowers
Obtain the necter by means of a long coiled tubular proboscis
They undergo complete metamorphosis
Their eggs are hatched into larvae called caterpillars
Which they feed on the edges of young leaves
The larval stage is the feeding and growing stage
The adult grows to maturity to become the reproductive stage
They display they beautiful colours which are attractive to the eyes that form image
