A Burning Baptism
Location
I ate you up desperately like a sun-starved rose
I clung to you until my fingers blistered from their grasp
You whispered my name and I ran to you to taste the sound of it on your lips
In our world we tore through jungles and raced until sweat drenched our bodies
We jumped into volcanoes and baked under the merciless desert sun
And I craved and coveted and called and cried for you to warm my lifeless grasp
And you shouted my name until it scorched under your blazing tones
So I withered away to bandage the flames which left carving patterns in my name
I tore through miles of meditteranean waters to feel the waves force fill my emptiness
I lay in the forest and let raindrops soothe my scarring
Until I grew again, slowly at first, like a rose that blooms in winter
And then more surely still rising up to meet the sky like an old friend
Until my name had blossomed among the clouds
