Bruises

The bruises start small

But little did I know that was my downfall

Pinch after pinch to

Punch after punch

It hurts but I love him far too much

“Thats just how he shows love”

“Just ignore it”

Let it fly by like a dove

I can’t leave him

I love him far too much

But to sit here punch after punch?

“Whats that bruise from honey?”

“Nothing mama i’m just clumsy”

Maybe you deserve it

You tell yourself

Maybe thats why he picked you

Out of everyone else

Makeup will hid it

I know how

So you blend and you blend

Until you can’t tell

One day he does to much

Its unspeakable

Its his touch

You scrub and you scrub

Until your raw

Why me

You thought

Why me out of them all

“How do I leave him”

Is now the question your asking

When before that memory

Would have never gone passing

Through your mind

Twenty times a day

Summer break

Thats when you decide its time

For the cycle to break

Its over

You think

Your finally free

But the bruises still show

Awful memories
