I remember it like it was yesterday,

When we first met, hugged, cried,

Feeling like it was just you and me against the world.

Feeling like I can tell you all my darkest secrets.

Willing to promise anything just to see you smile.

 

You promised to love me and keep me safe.

I promised to be there when you needed me most.

You promised to wipe my tears through the hard times.

I promised to make you smile on your gloomy days.

Lately, promises have lost meaning and just became a word.

 

The love you promised me is simply fading away because you forgot to show it.

A word is just a word until you learn the meaning and express it.

You have me fighting a battle, that from my point of view, looks like I lost already.

I know you love me but I don’t want to know, I want to feel it.

 

I’m fighting everyday to resist  my urges but this time I slipped away.

I became a girl full of broken promises.

Who if you approach, will shatter into a million pieces.

She means good and she’s sorry but now it’s a habit.

This girl who promised you her world is dying slowly.

 

She promises she’s fine,

She smiles to hide the pain,

She is willing to do and tell you anything to avoid the pain.

But the promises got the best of her because she did them for you.

Sadly, a promise is just a word to her now.

 

Don’t think that they are meaningless to her because she still values them,

But one broken promise broke every piece in her.
