You know that our culture, our culture is broken
Us as a society needs this message spoken.
We’re no longer judged by our character
Now hold on, just wait, til’ what’s coming after
This is a problem that I feel should be addressed
Each and every one of us is compared to what’s “normal”
Well please excuse me if I want to wear sweats
And then have the nerve to go out and call that formal.

Single mom’s and single dads all around the world
Two jobs, nights shifts, coming home feeling whirled
They’ve worked past midnight and into the day
They only have time to help their kids that way.
So the kids are left searchin’, trying to find more
To fill that void that’s left inside their core.
They’ll knock on every door, to see what they have in store
No one would have guessed this would have turned into a war.

They’ll make dumb decisions and do stupid shit
They’re all the more vulnerable to just give up and quit.
All this suffering man, you know that it’s madness
I really just hope they don’t fade into the blackness.
Now someone please explain to me, how is it fair
That these soldiers watch their dreams go up in the air
Just because they weren’t born up on a throne
They were dealt a bad hand at no fault of their own

They want to win the fight; they’ve been trying alright
But against the force of the night, it can be hard to see the light.
It’s an uphill battle, because half the time
They’ll end up getting tangled and trip on a land mine.
They’ll find out what to drink, how to smoke a smoke
And soon they’re going to replace their books with dope
A gentle breeze blows and they end up like a leaf
They found help from drugs, thank God some relief

We’ll celebrate 4/20 and you know it’s kinda funny
Why don’t we celebrate when people find it’s sunny?
We defend bad habits, man what are we doin’?
This is so wrong that millions should be suin’!
Social media has become our “therapy”
Now the world see’s our problems with utmost clarity.
These hashtags and subtweets, man are you kidding me?
I’ll tell you right now keyboards can’t set you free.

We all have the times where we stare out of our windows
Feeling helpless, yet that’s not the truth though
We can find the courage, and strength to grow wings
Life’s not the sad songs that everybody sings.
The people of this world, their egos might be swollen
And someone’s heart out there is probably gettin’ stolen.
But don’t you worry, the oceans are in motion
And no matter what they do, you will never be broken.
