Bridges

Bridges burn.
Sometimes furioulsy flaming; consuming, crushing, destroying, demolishing,
Sometimes slowly smoldering; caving, crumbling, falling, failing.
Bridges burn.

But they are also built.

A word, a phrase, a look, a moment.

That which has the power to end a relationship,
Also has the power to build it,
reinforce it,

And ultimately, our tools are our words.
Said with the mouth, eyes, or with the silence.

Words burn our bridges.
Words build our bridges.

Building pathways to the heart,
Or tearing it apart.

Tonight, better to build.
Better to let be built.

Building bridges.
Word by word.

Bridge built.
