Breathless

Tiny pieces of pain

Dripping into a new facade

Overflowing weeping tears,

Tears in reality.

People’s faces torn,

Frightening and scary,

No trust there.

Words choked and strained,

Strangled by the acts of others,

Broken and limp.

Blood rushing

Pushing the pieces of life

Farther apart.

Breathes in

But no breathes out.

Drowning.

Trembling fingers,

Dancing for masters

Of some other mind.

A fight for breath.

A right to breathe.

Rasping lungs

Torn skin,

Harrowed as a shallow grave

For hope.

Breathes released,

In spite of others.

In rage.

Yelling in sharp breaths

Breathes in

And breathes out

Deep breathes underwater

Drips of pain
