Breaking the chain

It’s not fun being in a classroom,Feeling hopelessHiding my face in my handsPanicking every time they call on meTurning head sideways to avoid being called on Having my heart in my mouth all the timeNot just in a classroom,But mostly everywhere I goAfraid to be judgedAlways having a phrase stuck in my head “You’re never going to accomplish anything”Why does fear always want to speak to me?? It wraps around me,Taking over meOne day courage knocked on my door.I was tired of living wrapped in chains.I learned that I shouldn’t let fear take over me, I shouldn’t feel less than others.I should be proud of who I amAnd now I am a proud , bilingual Mexican, Who left some of that far behind
